Today is the tomorrow that you were worried about yesterday

A lot of men suffer before anything has even happened.

We worry about what might happen tomorrow. We replay scenarios in our heads, prepare for battles that haven’t started, and exhaust ourselves fighting enemies that may not even exist.

A lot of the time, we fight the battle in our minds before we ever reach the battlefield, only to get there and discover there was no battle to fight in the first place.

So think about this:

Today is the tomorrow you were worried about yesterday.

How do you feel?

Is everything still here? Are you still alive? Did the thing you were so worried about even happen? And if it did happen, was worrying about it beforehand useful at all?

This is one of the ways men create misery for themselves almost every single day.

It goes back to something I talk about in my book with the sapling.

Tomorrow and its decisions belong to Allah.

You have the seed in your hand, and your responsibility is to plant it in the present.

The seed belongs to you. The tree belongs to Allah.

Maybe it grows tomorrow. Maybe it takes two weeks. Maybe it takes a year. Maybe Allah causes something completely different to grow from what you expected.

That part is no longer your business.

Your business is today.

Plant the seed. Do the work. Make the decision you can make right now. Handle what is actually in front of you, and stop trying to control a tomorrow that was never yours to control in the first place.

Plant in the present. Leave the outcome to Allah.
